"I've seen this one before"
A view from many a summer at my Grandma's house.
Not a re-post just a related title. Have fun with Summer Northern hemisphere it has been hella hot down here
Oh and February you were good a bit hot though maybe tame it down. So see ya later Feb  until next year.

New Opps
After four rounds of debating and prep to say I am tired is an understatement, especially when this is your first time at debating all year. However everyone was on the same playing field and my cases from 3 debate onwards were atrocious.
So as you would've guessed no Northland Debating team and no Nationals this year, which I am disappointed by as I met so many amazingly cool people down at Nationals which I won't get to met up with for sometime. Also I won't make new (future) friends which sucks.
However as the saying goes when another door closes another one opens (or a window depending on your cynicalness) and this means I'll be able to teach younger debaters at my school, and focus on other things like school work, hockey, work work (well I might get a job), community projects the list is endless.
Chin up and say hello to 2011
Late
I apologise, I was late for yesterdays post, I really have no excuse as I had the whole day but then I got side-tracked with a lot of things on top of debating work for the tournament today!!! So here goes nothing and I'll post later tonight to make it up

Stags
I know taxidermy is wrong (well to some) but thought I would post this just due to the original picture's weirdness and that it links with what I will say after this. Anyway the stags were actually in a bathroom of a school I went to - for debating - which begs the question what are stags doing in a toilet and what are they doing in a school toilet for that matter.
Furthermore I have a debating tournament this weekend which decides our regional team (pre-debate freak out to come) which I was in last year. Sequentially this has somehow put a great deal (most likely self-induced) pressure on my self and I was wondering if others do that? Anyway I'm hoping to get over my stomach related gurgles sometime soon (probably when this debating tournament ends) so I can actually get a goodnight sleep.

This ramble (of somewhat superficial things) is in now way to belittle the situation in Christchurch, which is playing the in background as I type. It is just a break from the sobriety of everything at the moment. Good news though (as of the last time I checked) 40% of Christchurch has water and 70% has power. Push on and keep strong Christchurch

SPLASH
Refreshment needed, posts may slow down.

Alley
It is hard to keep such a definitive thing like the earthquake off your mind much like the Australian flooding. Although it is in these times which the best of people is shown and that makes me quite pleased to be a New Zealander.

Christchurch
My greatest sympathies go out to those who have lost their loved ones and are suffering from the aftermath.

The view from my bathroom window
My bathroom is probably one of my favourite rooms in my house. For one it is the coldest room which is a winner in my books but also it has a quiet tranquility that all the other rooms lack. What is your favourite room?
I haven't asked questions in awhile, do you like questions?

'Burbing it
I know it was released ages ago, but I am officially infatuated with The Suburbs by Arcade Fire especially Rococo which makes fun of the pretentious ways of teenagers. To say the least that one was a bit close to my 70s Bungalow. So this little picture is a little "hey I like your CD" to Arcade Fire.
Oh I nearly forgot you must watch/participate in Arcade Fire's The Wilderness Downtown if you haven't (it is an HTML5 interactive video that is well worth the wait) also the movie directed by Spike Jonze "Scenes from the Suburbs" will be out May on a rerelease

Wow this sounded like a press release (or as close as I could ever muster) just to keep ya'll informed about my flippant music choices. Choice

"It's like film but not"
My go at making my digital photo look like a film, I know it is moody I also noted it looked a bit hipster. However this is the blazer I wore during swimming sports, it was crazy hot probably 30+ degrees during the day. IT WAS BOILING. Yet it was worth it.

DIVE-SWIM-WIN
Today was swimming sports at my school and instead of competing (I can't swim to save myself although I can swim) I was "the resident photographer" as one teacher put it. I'm still editing my first batch, I say first batch as there are like 520 something of them to review-select-edit (my version of DIVE-SWIM-WIN) so expect some-more of these to hit your shore. A breakdown is so imminent

It's Ridiculous!
The price of fuel that's what. At the moment it is 199.99 cents for Petrol at Shell although that is nothing compared to what people living in the EU have to pay. However while the EU may have expensive petrol that is to encourage fuel economy by travelling on public transport and the. In New Zealand there is a a fuel tax but we do not have the transport systems to back it up. We are left with higher prices but yet we can not survive without it.
Anyway that was my whinge of the day (well probably not, oh how far this blog has come from being a personal style blog which was first made with the intention of it being a documentation of my garment design). I also found this article about Shell's super profit on The Guardian awhile back

On a lighter note this is my 123 post thought that was a bit cool

Rain
Weather my absolute favourite when it comes to conversation fillers. I think this deluge was part of a now downgraded cyclonic movement. The more you know!

EDIT: Oh I have got a really good self-portrait for you guys, I think I'll upload it Monday so stay tuned (and to anyone past the GMT well that will probably be Sunday for you all) oh I think I have fallen into the over hype problem

Slow Shutter Two
Took this a while ago, when my blog was on hiatus and my facebook seemed the better outlet at the time.

Oh how I wish it was cold at the moment so I could wear my angora sweater, linen shirt, felt hat, wool jacket and slim denim jeans. Sadly the weather has been up to 32 degrees in 100% humidity for the past two days and with New Zealand being in the ozone hole it gets burny, fast.
Weather talk a sure sign of school catching up with me
You can see the previous entry here where I explain (ramble) about my likes and dislikes of slow shutter photography.

Enlargement
Spot the resizing.  Thus closing Art Week I know I didn't post as much as I should've but I didn't feel it was entertaining enough. I'll get back to my self-photography posts soon and maybe chuck in some other things in there as well. Stay tuned and enjoy

FINAL
As you guessed, this was my final piece on my art board. It really is just a cluster(expletive) of materials but that is what Alice Glass represents to me.
Lets have a go with naming all the media in here:
OHT Transfers, Clear CD cover, Plexi-Glass, Acrylic, Pastel, Gesso, Paper, Card, Spray Paint, Cigarettes (Marlboro), Vivid, Dye, Janola,  Pencil, Indian Ink, Hot Glue, PVA.
I think that was it. Again a total cluster(expletive) of media for a grand total of 17

A View from my Window
You know like a View From the Bridge by Arthur Miller, I studied it last year. Anyway, at the moment I'm trying to sort out subject clashes which has caused me to lose my facade of calm and revert back to panicked and stressed visage (oh I'm using a bit of French today) which spurred this into existence. Who said angst wasn't useful!?

Alice Glass
I'm pretty sure I've discussed that Alice Glass was my "Pop Icon" for my art board last year. For those not familiar just pop in it google (I will link later when my internet is back up to speed) for those who won't she is the lead singer of the duo Crystal Castles which are a combination of 8-Bit, Punk and Noise. ENJOY ART WEEK (there will be other bits thrown in don't worry)

DOWN WITH THE INTERNET
Actually it is more like, my internet is down (read on dial up speed) so yeah. Sorry posts will becoming a bit more slower (although I hope still everyday) than usual. It is going to be a very painting week. So stay tuned and enjoy the art

School Starts
Say good-bye to sanity and sleep because brainstorming and homework has officially begun
